Edited for clarity: the entire Senate votes for or against confirming nominees. Everyone can contact his or her senators to tell them to vote “No” on Chavez-DeRemer, not just those with senators on the committee.
Lori Chavez-DeRemer’s confirmation hearing began this morning.
Every freedom-loving American should oppose the confirmation of Chavez-DeRemer as Secretary of Labor. Of all Trump nominees, she, in my opinion, is the wolf in sheep’s clothing, the Trojan Horse, the threat to all Americans who should have and maintain the right to earn a living free from union interference and control, as well as free of overbearing government policies.
Chavez-DeRemer’s track record as co-sponsor of the PRO Act shows where her loyalties lie. As a union lackey, she is highly likely to take action that undermines, or even outright destroys, Right to Work in this country.
As Secretary of Labor, she would pose a serious threat to small businesses and independent professionals.
To quote an opinion published on November 27, 2024, by Jennifer Oliver O’Connell at RedState:
Now that Chavez-DeRemer has lost her congressional seat, she is in the perfect position to inflict more damage. Many freelancers see her as O'Brien's Trojan horse to influence the resurrection of the PRO Act and to see the regulatory version embodied in the Biden-Harris final independent contractor rule enforced. As a freshman congresswoman, Chavez-DeRemer was a co-sponsor of the PRO Act and another piece of legislation that are a direct attack on independent professionals. This gives a window into how she could potentially head the U.S. Department of Labor.
For my fellow Floridians:
Senator Ashley Moody is a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. If you want to let Senator Moody know you object to the confirmation of this terrible nominee, her Washington D.C. office number is 202-224-3041. I just left a detailed voicemail expressing my opposition and asking the senator not to vote in favor of confirmation.
For everyone:
If you are not familiar with Chavez-DeRemer and the danger she poses, you will find recent articles linked below that give an overview.
Below, also, is a link to the committee web page listing all members, so anyone with a senator on the committee can take action.
Please spread the word!
